After 21 years in the care sector, I have learned that good care starts with one thing: listening properly to people.
Throughout my career, clients and families have often told me that I go above and beyond. One client once said to me, “Oh Tanya, I’ve saved you in my phone as the lovely, nice carer.” That comment stayed with me.
It reminded me that people do not only remember the tasks you complete. They remember whether you listened to them, whether you were patient, dependable and kind, and how you made them feel.
I have always tried to treat every person I support with the same care, dignity and respect I would want for someone in my own family. I listen, I notice the small things, and I take the time to understand what really matters to that person.
During my years in the care sector, I also saw the challenges behind the scenes. I saw families struggling to know who they could trust, and I saw care providers dealing with rota gaps, sickness, annual leave and the pressure of finding reliable staff at short notice. I understood how much difference the right person can make.
That is why I created Eden Homecare 247. For families, Eden helps make the search for an independent carer clearer and more reassuring through a personal introduction process and careful checks. For care providers, Eden supplies Healthcare Assistants, Support Workers and Senior Carers, subject to suitability and availability, to help respond to staffing pressures while keeping the people receiving care at the centre.
I did not start Eden simply to create another care business. I started it because, after 21 years in this sector, I know what good care should feel like and how important reliable people are to families, services and the individuals depending on them.
